Walk the Jurassic Coast

Take full advantage of Serenata’s beautiful location, with guided coastal walks offering wonderful sea and countryside views. No need to pack the walking boots; a Jurassic Jaunts walk doesn’t need to be a strenuous affair, rather just a chance to enjoy the sea air and picturesque surroundings.

Wake up and refresh with a four mile morning walk, from 10.15-12.15. This will take you up to Swyre Head, which is the highest point of the Purbeck Hills. The height means fantastic views of the Channel, countryside and harbours in all directions, including Portland, Poole Harbour and The Isle of Wight. The walk starts with a short, steep ascent up to Swyre Head, but the terrain is excellent throughout, so no need to be a regular, expert, trekker!

The afternoon walks from 1pm are slightly longer at five miles, heading to the Ridgeway and Tyneham Cap. Tyneham village was evacuated in preparation for D-Day in 1943, where the residents were disallowed to return. But still holding history are the remains of village houses, manor house and a school and church. From here there are also great views of Lulworth Cove, Worbarrow Bay, Mupe Bay, Gad Cliff and the vast Dorset countryside. Returning to the festival field along the coast path, you will see the ‘nodding donkey’ oil extraction site and walk through Kimmeridge village. This walk is also generally of excellent terrain and includes a short, steep ascent.

The morning and afternoon guided walks are available to Serenata ticketholders on all three days – for only £2 per adult. Take the whole family along to enjoy the World Heritage Jurassic Coast, under 12s go free! There is a maximum of 25 people per walk, so make sure you get there quick!
